Welcome to Middle of the Road Mom by Laura:

 I am a middle of the road mom. What does this mean? Well for me, it has many meanings. One is that  while I try to do my best, I would not call myself a supermom. I do not have the energy for that (thank you Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism). Another meaning for me is that I walk everyday in the middle of parenting a young adult (Alec:20), a teenager (Molly: 16), and two rambunctious toddler boys (Carter: 3 and Jack:1). How did this happen? I will get in to that more on a later post. I also am the proud wife of my amazing husband, Zach. Seriously, sometimes he is so amazing, I wonder if I am measuring up! I do know that he makes me want to do better and continue to always try to improve. After all, he is a life/business coach so it is literally his job to help others to keep pushing themselves to reach and surpass their goals. Intimidating right! Another reason I consider myself a middle of the road mom is that I have a hard time picking my stance on just about any issue. This is because I have been so many types of moms in my twenty years of motherhood. I have been the super young mom, in a bad marriage mom, the single struggling mom, the dating mom, the remarried mom, the working mom, and as of three weeks ago a stay at home mom. Reflecting on all of this, has made me want to share my story and parts of my life to maybe encourage others to see that just because you are not where you want to be doesn't mean you will be stuck there forever.  My life has made me empathetic to everyone and every situation. I can always see both sides of the argument and I get extremely frustrated when people are so narrow minded that they can not see where another person is coming from. This does not mean I do not have my own values and opinions, it just means they are not always black and white. One thing I know for sure is that I love Jesus, and because Jesus has loved me through all of my mess I am commissioned  to love people. I try to show love wherever and however I can.  I still fall short, but I keep trying everyday. I am grateful for my life experiences. I do think I appreciate my husband so much more than I would have had I not been through what I went through in my first marriage. My life has taught me to meet people where they are and to show grace. It has taught me to look for the good in people and the world. It has taught me that bad days are always followed up by good days. I am a middle of the road mom, sometimes great, sometimes a failure. However, you can not have success without  failure.
